It moved to Tunisia where it took on the German Army at Kasserine Pass and Maknassy.It landed at Salerno and attacked at Mount Porchia. As part of the force at Anzio it withstood the onslaught of three German Divisions. After the breakthrough at Anzio the division moved on Rome, moved north and continued it’s campaign up the boot of Italy across the Arno River.The Division participated in the North Apennines and Po Valley Campaigns capturing Casole d’Elsa, the Monterumici Hillmass, Lucca, and Carviano, among others.
